Atuksha & Davin Poonwassie – Simple Crowdfunding

Co-Founders

www.SimpleCrowdfunding.co.uk   –   Property Crowdfunding

Davin and Atuksha started the crowdfund platfrom Simple Backing, which has grown to a P2P and Equity site with IFISA called SimpleCrowdfunding.co.uk, having raised over £7.7 million to help projects with combined projected GDVs of over £45 million.

In 2013, Davin and Atuksha Poonwassie set up Simple Backing.  In May 2015 Davin became a full time entrepreneur, focusing on Simple Backing.  Davin is also an international business and property coach, a keen property investor and an NLP Master Practitioner. Davin enjoys helping people explore what they really want out of life and then helping them achieve it through support and coaching.

Atuksha’ background is in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and data analytics.  She has helped businesses, across many industries build and maintain a loyal customer base through her consulting business Focus 2020.  Her book, ‘Cave to Castle, How to transform any property business using Customer Relationship Management’ hit the Amazon #1 bestseller spot (in the business skills category) in 2015. Atuksha is a firm believer in the importance of building a long-standing community and raving fan base; something that is well suited to both CRM and crowdfunding.

Davin and Atuksha are also the co-authors of ‘Simple Crowdfunding, Learn the Secrets to Crowdfunding Success’ that was published in 2015.

On the 25th November 2016, Simple Backing became fully approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a Peer-to-Peer Lending platform.

As a fully authorised platform, we have been approved by the HMRC for ISA fund management. This means that from 2017, investors will be able to invest their ISA pots and allowances into property projects through Simple Backing, so we are in a really good place!

The platforms have funded projects from Wales to Doncaster to Mayfair and Kensington, with raises from £26,000 to £1.6 million.

We have raised £7.7 million with project GDVs over £45 million on www.SimpleCrowdfunding.co.uk. One Project raised £1.6 million in 17 minutes!

The platforms connect Investors with Fundraisers / Borrowers through smart property projects.  The team are property investors, successful business owners and business coaches.  They are passionate about what they do and love to see property companies grow and succeed and investors benefit from taking part.

In December 2016 we received IFISA authorisation and brought this to the site September 2017 allowing UK investors to invest ISA money and keep their tax free status.

Atuksha is also a Director of the UK Crowdfunding Association, a trade association that represents crowdfunding platforms with operations in the UK.

Register at www.SimpleCrowdfunding.co.uk for the next round of projects and announcements of new features and offers.

John Corey – Property Fortress

As a multi-national landlord (USA and UK) plus old school tech guy who was there at the birth of the future, John brings a fresh perspective to many conversations. Having been a beta tester for LinkedIn after meeting a co-founder during the period John worked for Steve Jobs, his next move was London.

In the UK, John worked for Swiss Bank Corp (today’s UBS) and later Egg (the UK’s first online only bank).

John’s real estate investing started in 1983. Rolling forward today, John’s portfolio is single-let properties as he can be a bit lazy in terms of hunting all the time for the next deal. Given the long tech and banking career, focusing on crowd funding and the regulatory environment for fund raising comes natural.

The magic happens when people bring great questions to the conversation. John is up for it is you are.

Evan Maindonald – MELT Homes

Evan founded MELT Homes in 2002 and has grown the company from undertaking small refurbishment and development projects to the larger projects it is undertaking today.
He has hands on involvement with the Company’s development projects and is responsible for overall company management and direction.
Evan has an MBA from IMD in Lausanne and a BSc in Computer Science from Auckland University

This talk is ideal for: property investors & developers, those looking to move from BTL to development and total newbies to property
